Backstage by Stephen Ignacio
A digital painting in which photography and traditional fine art are merged through digital media painting. Using the same concepts used in traditional art, through the use of digital tools the image of a singer waiting in the wings to sing whilst watching a colleague complete her song is transformed into a digital painting in which the artist aims to bring back the ambience and mood of the moment which photography cannot transpose. The ambience and view of the artists whose individual artistic view of the scene before him cannot be solely captured via a lens capturing solely light and shadows.
With a new era of digital media now dictating the views of the viewer the need for physical use of a canvas and paint becomes irrelevant against the need to transpose the mark, the stroke and the expression in the painting which can be illustrated by the artist via digital tools in a similar way as if using a paintbrush and palette.
